BIG BLOW: Daughters born to Meghan and Prince Harry will not inherit their title
Proud feminist Meghan Markle who recently married Prince Harry would have a hard time to digest the fact that their daughters will not inherit their title. Meghan has been very vocal about feminism and it would be very interesting to see how she reacts to this.
Meghan and Prince Harry married in a Royal Wedding ceremony after almost 2 or more years of relationship. If the couple only had daughters then their titles would die out. A son if born even after the daughters would inherit the dukedom. Its an awkward position for Meghna who stands for equality among genders.
Although the Royal laws of succession were changed to neutral from gender-based in 2013 but the priority within the peerage system is still given to male heirs. After the law was changed Princess Charlotte was the first female royal to get a place in the line of succession.
Any child born to Prince Harry and Meghan will be a lord or a lady but this could change if Queen decides to interfere as she did with Prince William and Kate’s children. Prince George was always entitled to inherit the line of succession but now Princes Charlotte too has the privilege of it.
“I am proud to be a woman and a feminist.”
Meghan statement about Feminism was posted on the monarchy’s official website and it shows the status she wants to have. She said she has a lifelong commitment towards promoting Women Empowerment. It would be interesting to see how and what Meghan would react after things unfold.
